No asset to asset?

HHM I just read your post on discharges.

I see that the no asset to asset doesn't affect them. But, how does a case go from no asset to asset?

The BK trustee will make an initial determination of your case after the 341 as to whether your case is an asset case. For example, many people file what they think will be a no asset case...then the BK trustee decides to go after a future income tax refund, or disputes an exemption, etc...hence, you case is now an asset case.

The trustee will make the determination to designate an asset case if he thinks there is money for creditors, after accounting for leins, exemptions, and costs.
