Do the trustees ask you for reciepts for cash bills or things you paid cash for? I haven't been keeping most of them from about one to two months ago, the thought never even crossed my mind. If they do ask and you can't produce, then what happens? I hear alot of people with picky trustees, I don't know why my attorney keeps saying that I'm worrying too much it will be quick and painless. We aren't filing until the end of Feb or March, but I listen to him and I'm fine I come on here and freak out!

Our attny never said a word about saving receipts.
Our Trustee never asked to see receipts.
I saved receipts anyway.
Partly as a CYA. Partly to help us figure up our Expenses. Partly to see where our money goes.
After it was all over, said and done,......... I threw the receipts away.
Very few people, relatively speaking, that post here are ever asked to document anything. Mostly, lately, it's just the people getting audited.
It can't hurt to get a shoe box and set your receipts aside for the next few months. If you need them, you have them. If you don't need them, you can trash them later.Filed Ch 7 - 09/06

I am not an attorney. My comments are based on personal experience and research. Always consult an attorney in your area to address concerns related to your particular situation.

I haven't kept any receipts either. Most of what I spend will show up on my bank statement by using my debit card. The rest are so small that I don't think the trustee will care. I've been told that they're more concerned with large deposits and withdrawals that look suspicious. If your account looks pretty consistent every month you won't have a problem. Try to do as much with your debit card if you have one.
