Quick Question -most recent tax returns?

In the nolo it says " you must give the trustee your most recent tax return but can black out senitive information such as social security number and date of birth " " 7 days prior to creditor meetting" Is this true? I thought we had to wait until it was requested of us to see last years tax return ???

ok found this on a sticky

    Updated:

    Tax Returns Mandatory

The debtor must provide a copy of his or herlatest tax return or a transcript at least 7 days before the meeting of creditors or the case “shall” be dismissed. Said information must also be provided to any creditor who requests it. All tax returns must be filed for a plan to be confirmed in Chapter 13. The debtor must file all returns from 4 years prior to the Chapter 13 filing.

Remember - NOLO is just generalized. Each district/trustee makes their own rules.

This law is listed on the United States Government website. It's not a local law. Some districts might not be as picky about it as others but it is required that each debtor provide the trustee with their most recent tax return within 7 days of the 341 meeting.

I mailed mine certified to the trustee right after I filed.

Our Trustee wanted the last 2 years income taxes. On file with him. In advance of the 341.

Best check and see what's required in your Court and/or by your Trustee.

You submit the requisite paperwork in advance of your 341 Meeting. This allows the Trustee to review your Schedules and documentation. Jot notes specific to your particular situation the Trustee wants to cover in your 341 Meeting.

Our attny left no stone unturned. Our file was 3-4 inches thick. 2 year's income taxes. Receipts from property we'd sold. Copies of our lease and our cell contract. Bank statements. CC's statements. You name it, it was there.

It really depends on how thorough your Trustee and/or Court really wanna be.
