    Bankruptcy and auto insurance

How has BK effected your auto insurance prices? I'm getting quotes now and I have 2 good reasons that my prices would be high...
    1. Haven't had insurance in about 5 months
    2. Recent BK

I used to work for an agent so I know my credit gives a general rating (A-Z) that is used to generate a price. I just wonder if my "rating" has plummeted and if I won't be able to get auto insurance.

I know my wife filed CH7 in 2005 and just got a letter from my auto ins saying it was going up. I think it went up only $15/mo. Needless to say I wrote a letter to my agent saying how impressed I am that it took them morons almost 3 yrs to do this.

Wow. That's ridiculous. I could go on and on about how I think it's insane that credit score and insurance risk is intertwined. But I won't. I found a good price at a local hometown insurance company. Small company, small name = smaller price.

Good for you! Lets just say my letter was vocal trying to understand how the BK she filed 3 years ago had any bearing on her driving skills. Oh, and despite she never had a claim filed even makes it better.

It's the same thing with a college degree. When I graduated, that somehow mattered for car insurance. Ditto for being married. Duh. A degree and a spouse doesn't make you a safer driver.
