Whew- I am soo glad that is over and behind me. Our trustee was very nice, but also VERY intimidating. After she raked the couple before us over the coals, I started shaking I was SOOOO nervous. Then she got to us and was super nice. After about 5 questions from her and about 5 questions from our attorney, the trustee said our case was CLOSED and we were free to go!!!!
I guess this means we are in the 60 day club now!
Here is one snafu though- we had a local creditor (think citifinancial type) that we originally secured with items such as our lawnmower, tv, computer, etc. We have MORE than paid the original loan amount plus a reasonable amount of interest to these people. They sent my atty. a reaffirmation agreement for $4500. Our original loan amount was only $3000!!!! So our atty. told us it would be ok to not accept the reaffirmation agreement. Now- here is the kicker- the attourney said the worst thing they could do is try and get the personal property, but that since they do not have serial numbers, they cannot do much. But- most of the stuff that we originally secured the debt with- we dont even have anymore- it either broke or we replaced when it wore out, etc.
So does anyone have any thoughts on what I can expect from these people? Can they throw a wrench in my 60 day count down?
One other question- we are surrendering our home in the Ch. 7- but yesterday not one mention of the house was made other than to confirm we are surrendering it. Will the mortgage people contact me and advise me on what to do next? Are there papers with them we need to sign? How will this work? I was so overwhelmed with everything else yesterday- I did not even think to ask my atty. until after we had already left.
Thanks,
Crystal
