How would the trustee know your bank balance on the day you filed?

    Hi.

I keep reading where you should make sure your checking balance is at its lowest when you file, but how would the trustee know your bank balance other than the your word? Do we print out an online statement on the bank's website to prove the balance? Because otherwise we only get a checking account statement once a month which would reflect the balance on the day of the filing, but no one would see that until we got the statement in the mail a few weeks to a month after the filing date.

I'd print out the online statement and have it ready in case the trustee inquired.

Because the trustee is going to ask for your bank statements and you will be required to turn them over.

My atty told me on the day of the 341 meeting, I have to get a statement from the bank. He said an ATM statement is fine. I am not allowed to have more than $400.00 in the bank on that day.

Do exactly as you said. On the day you file, print off a snapshot of your account online. It will give you the amounts you have in savings and checking.

If you have an attorney, they should have already asked for your account statements, but you should also print off everything up to the 341 date, and bring it with you, just in case.
