    BK 7 and Creditor Notifications?

I think I've read somewhere, not sure where, that once a person files BK, creditors are usually notified electronically (if they can be). Is this true? and if so how soon after filing are they notified? My case was e-filed Fri 2/08/08, and I haven't received 1 call today from a creditor. I usually have gotten at least 20 or so. Not even 1. It's a wonderful sound to have my phone quiet...but odd too.

Funny I had the same experiance. I filed on 2/4 the next day nothing. I was recieving about 20 calls a day also. It might seem funny but for the first time in my life I was looking forward to their calls just so I can make sure to take down their names and addresses. Go figure cant get to stop calling until you want to actually talk to them. lol.

It is odd isn't it? I've been so stressed for the past few months getting calls at home and at work, all day long, and now nadda, nothing.........nobody calling. Sounds beautiful though!

You won't hear from them. Once you file they are prohibited from contacting you.

it is a breath of fresh air though. It actually allows you some time to collect yourself and think about your future in a positive light.

If you have accounts that you tracked online try logging into your account. About 10 days after I filed I noticed I couldn't log into them any longer. I'm assuming they got the notification.

I tried to log in to pay my car loan I couldnt get it. So I called the guy immediatly transfered me to their bk dept. They then transferred me to their Capital Group who was responsible for making sure that all bankruptcy laws where being followed properly. *smile* It is nice to have them on the run for once...

Question if we filled on Thursday how long do we give the CC companies to stop calling. For some reason Capital one has called six times already today. Everytime I answer they want to talk to my wife. I explain we filled BK and offer the case number and they hang up on me saying only my wife can give that information but they have my cell and keep calling it. Should I let them keep calling and gather info and file a case against them or just put my wife on the phone to give the BK number?

I would tell them you ae logging all their calls.
They are violating the automatic stay.
And that you will be reporting them to the BK court for it.

But typically it takes a few days for most creditors to get the word and update their systems.
Some may even take a week or so if it has to mailed to them.
                  7/01/10 - filed!
                  11/20/10 - discharged and closed
