    Is back childsupport an asset?

    Im fixing to file chapter 7, the attorney is just getting all the paperwork done. In the mean time my ex and i are trying to resolve his issues He owes me a few thousand in back child support, is it considered an asset? I wouldnt think so but wanted to check first. Thanks

    Yes, it is a type of asset (like an accounts receivable)...someone owes you money, from your perspective, it is an asset (but it is also exempt).

      11/14/07 -filed C7 12/04/07 -case pulled for random audit.12/18/07 -341 held: Asset case due to engagement ring & tax return.02/19/08 - US trustee files motion to extend. 04/02/08- changed back to NO ASSET! I get my ring back and get to keep my tax return! :clapping: 04/28/08 -DISCHARGED!!! :yahoo::yahoo: 05/07/08 - CLOSED!!!

        Great....Looks like it wont be coming in one lump anyhow but my payments recieved just went up too hundred a month.I hope my case doesnt get audited Im always getting snagged for one thing or another,,just like at college I got snagged for verification:-( I did get a tax return too.Ps I love GYMBO!
