    Widow in hardship

When my father died last year from a heart attack he left behind a mindblowing amount of unpaid bills, $100,000+, for my mother (63) to deal with. She had no income before he died and is now drawing Social Security, but because she's listed with him on some of the paperwork (most notably the house) they continue to hound her for money. The bills include property, taxes, utilities, credit cards, and loans. She told me that she sought legal help but was turned away because she couldn't afford the fees. Last month she abandoned the house in Texas and I moved her in with me in Missouri. These people are not interested in details or death certificates, and the legal jargon and monetary figures are waaaaaaaay over my head, just wow...... She doesn't want the house or property it's on, just wants the nightmare to go away. What can be done???????
