Question about Charge Offs after filing date

We just filed the middle of last week. When we filed, we hadn't paid our CCs since June. Whe we filed AMEX had been listing us as 180 days past due, in collections. Today they posted a change in status (Charged Off) with a status date of 5/22/07.

Today is like 5 days after the date of our filing. Can they change our status to a more negative status like that after the date of filing?

Can they "back-date" a Charge off like that, and does it make much difference?

One of our other accounts went to Charge off right the day after we filed. Another updated to "Discharged - Bankruptcy", which I thought a bit odd as we're not discharged yet.

DebtorDan, Is being chrarged-off more serious than being bankrupt? Does it add more negative effect to credit score? I thought the title of "Bankrupt" was above the all negatives. Why should someone who is filing be worried about CHARGE-OFF
I am NOT an attorney, anything I say here is not a legal advice.
