Got a call from a creditor...?!

Here I am almost 30 days past my 60 day waiting period and I got a message from my credit union today. It was one of those "Mr. Kettle, it's EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that you call us NOW!" kind of calls that you usually get before you file bankruptcy!

This scared me. I thought "Is it possible they didn't get listed in my petition as a creditor? That they didn't get notified?"

So I checked my petition and sure enough they are on there.

So why are they calling me? I have a bank account with them but it only has a few dollars in it, and all I had was that one credit card with them which I think was a $7000 charge-off, as a cash payment for dental work as I recall. Or it may have been a balance transfer, but it was way back over a year ago.

Anyway, I am inclined NOT to call them back until I get my notice on pacer of "Discharged" and "Closed".

    Don't you think?

Having been through what I have been through, I would be inclined to call them and gently remind them that you are in bankruptcy while at the same time quizzing them about the motivation for their call at this late date. I would think that if you do not call them, the calls will continue. You don't need that!

Hey Pakettle, I think the rest of us could start a pool on when you are going to be discharged...might be kind of fun.

What do you say, peeps? Oh wait, I don't have any money.

      Never mind.

Damn, Pa, would you hurry up and get discharged already? I am as nervous for you as you are I think!

Thanks for the replies. I'm sure I'm being paranoid, but I don't want to even talk to them until I get my Discharged and Closed in writing! I have to assume they are calling because the person calling either does not KNOW I filed bankruptcy (and I don't need them calling my attorney or the trustee to keep my case open or re-open it!), or they know but they are claiming it doesn't "count" somehow...

Having one creditor call me doesn't bother me after what I've been through.

Once I get the Discharged AND Closed, if they still call after that, I'll answer their call!

Hey, a pool sounds like a great idea. Everyone here pays in $5 and when the discharge is posted on pacer, I get the $$$!

I'll even split it half and half with the owner of this site!
