    Retained lawyer

Finally retained a lawyer and got the huge packet of information from him. Most of it I expected but some of it was a little excessive (in my opinion). 4 years of tax returns! Receipts for clothing purchased for anyone in your household for the last 2 years! Receipts for car repairs for 2 years! Receipts for prescriptions or any OTC meds for the last 2 years! Who keeps all that stuff for THAT long? 6 months of bank statements. 3 YEARS of credit card statements for every credit card ever owned regardless of whether they are closed, opened, paid off, or included in the BK. I never anticipated needed to file for BK that long ago so I didn't keep that stuff. I have the tax returns and can get the bank statements. But, the other stuff....hmmmm. I think I'll be saying, "sorry. don't have 'em"!

Wow, that does seem excessive! My lawyer only asked for the last two years tax returns and 4 months worth of pay stubs. Has not even asked for bank statements (though I have them if necessary) and I can't even imagine having to come up with all that other stuff! Sheesh.

I KNOW! That would mean everytime I picked up a pack of underwear for hubby or a pack of onsies for the baby, I kept my receipt! Usually, I just buy that stuff at SuperTarget along with my groceries. Sheesh! I'm hoping that it won't be too much of an issue since we will be under the median income and what we spend is well within IRS guidelines. I guess maybe he would need it if I was trying to claim something excessive like double the clothing allowance or something.

I would hope that since you are under the median and spending well below the IRS guidelines that you would be ok without the receipts for clothes. I havent read anyone on hear having the trustee asking for those receipts. The trustee would probably go bonkers having to look at everyones underwear receipts and such......Just my opinion though.
