No discharge letter as of yet!!

    Hi,

    Anyone have a similar issue??
Filed chapter 7 BK in mid February in Los Angeles, meeting was held 1 month later in March.
Discharge was due end of May, noting as of yet.
    Anyone have any ideas.
    Thanks,

check www.pacer.psc.uscourts.gov and see what has been recorded at the courthouse in the district you filed in.
You will have to register and it will cost you $.08 a page to view or print your documents.
But you should be getting a discharge in the mail also. Have you changed mailing address?
You did not say whether you used an attorney or not, otherwise contact your attorney also..

    Good Luck,

Pacer did not have any updates, already checked.
I did use an attorney, he said no news is good news.
Trustee had asked for a bunch of papers for an independent review for dismissal., tax, paystubs, CC statements, etc... All was delivered but no updates on the case form them.
Wonder if the new Law change is causing any backlog with the Trustees or the court.

      Thanks,

OH YES.........They are "buried under in paperwork" - Trustees are working their "butts" off..........lol....
Pacer is behind in posting also - I just checked for a posting that I know has been issued for about 2 weeks.
Be patient, no news is good news, hopefully.
I'm sure you'll hear something soon.

Do you think that if the US Trustees and the courts are behind that they would also be behind in showing if you have been discharged in a chapter 7?

Also, do you think they would be behind in sending out letters if there is an objection to a discharge, dismissal or objections from creditors?

I'm asking because I would be curious as to which of these things listed above would have more importance over the others?

Oh Yeah, I'd say they are "very behind" in all letters, notifications, and all posting on pacer.
Believe me, they have been buried alive in Chapter 7's....
I'd say its first come, 1st serve....everybody wait your turn right now.
More than likely they would send out any letters involving objections first because most of that stuff is "time dated". (though this too can be extended also. Discharge comes when everything else is done.
            Hope this helps.

I can understand them being behind in posting information on Pacer, but I am wondering if they are way behind on their mailings to lawyers/debtors?

The last day for objections in my chapter 7 is 7/12 but if they are way behind, and there is an objection to dismiss/convert to a chapter 13 from the US Trustee, then could this also be delayed due to the backlog?

I have heard of cases on this site lately where people are getting letters/calls from their attorney on the day before their discharge is due for objections to their discharge from the US Trustee. I would have thought that this would have been a priority to get this kind of information out faster?
