My 341 meet is set for august 3rd. I wany to surrender my truck to capital one auto finance how long before they want the truck back? I am going on my 2nd month of missing a payment.

We also called our bank to surrender a truck and they said they would call us to arrange a pick up but that was 3 weeks ago and no call. Its not worth what we owe. Ive heard that sometimes they dont pick them up. -
You need to send the lien holder a letter articulating your intent to voluntarily surrender the vehicle. The letter should be mailed via certified mail. You'll also want to notify the lien holder via telephone too - and log down the date/time and name of who you notified.Originally posted by rambos26
If the lien holder doesn't recover the vehicle within two weeks, and a lot of time has elapses e.g. one month, you can also file a police report too, just report the vehicle as being abandonded.........so that they have to file a written report.

We surrendered 2 vehicles to Capital 1 auto. It is my experience that between them and their legal department...the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. We contacted Cap1 and they gave us numbers and the phone # to their legal group. We called, the lawyer called and they never returned our calls for over a month. I finally called and got a person and they were very pissy because "they had sent a letter out and we never returned it". Our lawyer returned it over a month prior. They finally picked the cars up, but if you talk to 3 people there, you will get 3 answers on what is going on.
