Bounced Checks

I have a question. I have two bounced checks from a local grocery store. I bounced them over a month ago and I trying to get the money together to pay them.

I meet with my lawyer on Monday to retain him and begin this process.

Now...the question....Can bounced checks be included in bankruptcy? Or should I just go ahead and pay them?

Short answer, YES, you list them on your bankruptcy if the debt is still outstanding when you file. It will really depend on how quickly you can get filed. The real question is whether they will get discharged in the BK, which you will need to discuss with your attorney.

Has the bank/credit union that paid the account try to collect the monies from you? You want to list the bank that paid the acount on your BK. As long as you do this, it will be discharged. Your situation will not be classified as check fraud at this stage.
