I'm about to file for Ch. 7, and I have a concern. Back in 2003, I received $52,000 in a personal injury lawsuit. After paying bills related to the injury (and a little irresponsibility on my part) there was nothing left as of 2005.
My mother was also a plaintiff in the suit, and she's joint on my bank account that will have less than $150 in it, as of the filing date. I have nothing to hide. The money was gone a few years ago. My concern is that I don't want the trustee contacting my mother. I don't want her to know I'm declaring bankruptcy.
The lawsuit is public record. The trustee will see it. How likely do you think it is that he or she would contact my mother about the old lawsuit?
