341 done today. Get to keep stimulus.

I got through my 341 meeting with no problems, other than the court running about 1.5 hours behind schedule.
My trustee didn't even mention my tax refund or the stimulus payment, both of which I had received. I used the stimulus money to pay bills, car insurance, etc. Spent $550 of the $600 on that stuff and kept receipts.
I should mention that I filed Chapter 7 and am in Michigan.
Come on discharge!

We had our 341 today as well. No mention of stimulus, but he did ask if we got our refund before we filed, which we did! Took all of about 8 minutes! He said good luck and we left!

Did you use an attorney? I plan to file soon but I think if I don't use an attorney I might miss something, I would like to save that money but I'm sure it's worth it too, one of my concerns is the fact that I have a car note and credit card through credit union, I want to keep the car and include the credit card in the bankruptcy, the card is close to $5000 I would like to get rid of it but I definitely need a car and I'm not behind on the payments.

We too made it through the 341 with no mention of the stimulus or tax refund by the trustee. Low and behold 2 weeks later we get a copy of a motion to compel turnover of the stimulus check. In NY there is no wildcard if you use the homestead exemption so we had to turn over the stimulus. Maybe there is an exemption in your state?

That sucks mysterie! I will be upset, but after all of this, all that they want from me is $600, I can live with that. I am writing off about $48k in debt.

Discharged 8/19/08! Saw it on PACER and got the letter a few days later.
I'm so relieved. Still not closed, but I'm not too worried about that!
