    Buying New Car before 7?

I own a 2004 sedan that has about $3k - $4k in equity, which is probably $1k to $2k more than our state exemption. I was recently in a fender bender that did very minimal damage to the vehicle (about $500), but since I am 9 mos pregnant and the car is a stick shift (which caused the accident) I am really uncomfortable driving it now.

Plan to file 7 in about 3 mos.

Would like to trade it in and purchase a minivan to replace it. Anyone done anything similar? Have any problems with Trustee?

You have a legitimate reason so you should go for it. A car payment will help out with your median income as well. If it is over the state exemption it could be a road bump for you also. Good luck.
