    Anyone else, please?
    Sorry, but you're beyond help.
Your credit is ruined because, you owe a large sum of money and don't have the resources to repay these old loans much less, handle any new credit.

Did you become disabled AFTER you got your student loans? It might make a difference. Yu should consult with attorneys about your situation. I would talk to bankruptcy attys to start. Check with several. See if you get the same answer from all of them. Then maybe check with personal injury attys, see if they have any methods that the others might not know about. But either way, forget about your credit, that's the least of your worries right now. Credit os correctable. Get the situation straightended out one way or another first. Check with attys.

          Good luck

Is your disability from State or Social Security?

I'm not sure if they can garnish it in your state, I can't find a specific answer.

You might contact the Office of the Attorney General for the State of Rhode Island, probably the Consumer Protection Division, who's current head is Parisa Beers.

[email protected] is the email for the attorney generals office.

In most states Social Security cannot be garnished except for taxes or child support. I'm just not sure how RI stands up to it.

I doubt you could file a complaint but ask the lawyers. Even if your only source of income is the disability the lenders might not be aware of it.

So check out the attorneys and AG and see what comes up. I hope you can find some peace for the situation

Hi Scrabble: I don't mean to beat you up unnecessarily, nor did I mean to double post. I have asked one of the Moderators to remove the second post.

As I have said, we are in the midst of an AP ourselves. Hearing to be August 19.....

It seems you have indeed done your homework, but it will be tomorrow sometime before I can look at your links.

I don't think anyone means to pry into your private health matters, but if you're asking for an opinion as to whether or not you can somehow discharge these student loans I think this is a very relevant question. This would involve you going in front of a judge and making your case for why you are incapable of earning any income. The likelihood of your success in that situation depends on why you are disabled. For example, if (hypothetically) you have chronic fatigue syndrome I'd say you have zero chance. If (hypothethically) you have a neurological disorder that has resulted in a loss of muscle control in your extremities I'd say you have an excellent chance.

We're trying to be helpful here, but it's hard to determine the strength of your case without knowing what your disability is. You don't need to tell us, just think about how a judge is likely to view your condition.
