    Discharged after 5 months!!!

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

This is my first post, but I wanted to thank everyone for their advise and willingness to share. I have been reading the forum since Feb and it was always a comfort to have a place to come at 3 AM when I couldn't sleep with worry.

My case was way over median and had an unforseen six figure tax debt. We had an issue with preferential payment come up so the case turned asset about 10 days after it should have been discharged. That did not delay the discharge, as I later learned, the Trustee was waiting for a reaffirmation hearing on one car to be completed before the court would enter the discharge. Today was that day!!!

All in all, it was a horrible experience, but hopefully a learning one. The BK likely won't close until the preferential payment is reversed and the funds distributed at the end of Sept. (creditors will each get about $100)

Living on cash is a whole new way of life. Going from luxury to a small rental with many uninvited "cohabitants" could be very depressing; but we are focusing on the good things, like our kids health and the fact that we have someplace to live; so many people just don't have that. We were lucky to have a friend with an empty house who didn't require deposits, etc. So we moved three states away and are starting over.

I wish each of you the best in your circumstance and would advise you to file sooner then later. Fighting for a house, or a vehicle can distract you so much from what's important. We fought for two years, robbing Peter to pay Paul..and all we did was accrue more debt. Waiting and thinking it will change "if only", "but next month", "but we could" simply buys into the "0%" transfer kind of mindset. No matter what the rate, or the thought process behind juggling, living with the stress of the monthly struggle is so damaging to your life, your marriage and your future.

    Wishing everyone happiness and joy!

Amen to that! We were kind of in the same boat, transferring to zeroes but balance never really going down. Miss a payment then youre at 30% and payments that cant be met.

I look forward to living on a cash basis, re-builiding credit just for travel i.e. car rentals and such. But I will never fall back into the trap of buying things that I cant pay for. It's such a snowball effect that is hard to stop.

I think that most on here are learning that lesson and never want to go through the h$%# again.

          Hey welcome and congrats!

Just wondered about the preferential payment and how that was handled, etc. We possibly may have to deal with that. 341 is in a couple of weeks.
