    amount of income after filing

Filed chapter 7 June 27. 341 meeeting at end of August. Worried about income and bank deposits. If my husband painted a neighbor's house on the side and got paid $500 and still earned his regular paycheck that week should we be worried about this extra income? His regular pay was about $200 less than his normal pay. So the total income for the month would still be inline with what our attorney listed as income on our papers. Thanks...

In a Chapter 7, any income "earned" AFTER the date you filed your petition is yours.

I have a question along the same lines ... I was thinking of trying to pick up a second job to build up money for savings. If I file tomorrow (aug. 5) how long should I wait before it won't look fishy?

      Thanks!

I'd wait a few weeks. Its generally better to wait until after the 341 meeting, that way it doesn't appear like you filed immediately before getting another job.

          "Herekitty",
I was going to get the 2nd job and my lawyer said "you want to do Chapter 7 instead of 13 - you best not be getting another 2nd job" right now. Would create excess income to force you into Chapter 13. Said too wait till after 341 meeting for sure!!!

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.
