    Ch. 7 and new job

Is it ok to look for a new job when your in a chapter 7? My cort date is 8-11. i hate my job and want to find a new one. It has nothing to do with trying to cheat the system. I am just unhappy at my job. Also what can i expect at the meeting.??? They did not even ask for paystub. Just copy of bank statement and last year tax. and i did telefile so i suppose copying the telefile worksheet is ok.

I was unemployed when I filed so it wasn't a problem for me, but I don't believe it should be a problem for you unless your income changes significantly. I actually could have just kept my answer to a simple no when he asked if I foresee my income changing anytime soon, but I informed the trustee that I was going to start working on the 15th (341 was the 3rd). I said if anything my income may go down a little depending on the hours since the pay is quite a bit less than I made before and with full taxes withheld will be less than the unemployment. He chuckled and said it sounds like I'd be better off staying on unemployment. I just said it opened the door for a good opportunity in the future, but until I start I'm not sure of the exact hours I'll be getting. He didn't seem to have a problem and my no asset, no distribution is showing on Pacer so I should be set. I know exactly how you feel about your job, while I liked my job I despised the company that bought who I originally worked for out. I had survived all the massive layoffs for years, but they did me a favor when they finally picked me, especially since I had been wishing for it for a long time. I just wish the job market had been better when it happened, we have the highest unemployment rate in the state where I live due to big companies closing down or having large layoffs. I'm also registered for classes to go back to school under the TAA program, so hoperfully since I scheduled for nights and an internet course that the new job will be willing to work with me so I can do both. It's sort of a pre-apprentice position so I don't even have a clue which company I will get assigned to until next Friday.

At my 341 I was basically just asked to confirm things that was on my filing, if I signed under oath, understood different things, etc. The standard questions as they are usually called though I should have been writing them down from the previous cases so I could post them as I've never seen a list of the standards that everyone is asked. I did have to provide my last 3 paystubs from my unemployment checks and my vehicle title to be photocopied at the lawyers. IIRC they looked they at least looked at my last 2 tax returns along with the invoice for a vehicle repair my dad loaned me the money for and I listed since I hadn't paid any of it back yet. However I don't recall them looking at a single bank statement or credit card statement at all which others tell me is strange. I was a little upset about that because I spent a lot of time getting the piles of paperwork handy. You should be fine with the telefile worksheet as their isn't really much else you can do since you filed that way and it should have your confirmation number on it IIRC how they look. I'm sure the trustee has the power to request more info from the IRS if needed. The trustee asked me for nothing except my SSN card and drivers license, but as I said others have told me my case seems a bit different than the norm. Hopefully someone from your area can chime in on their experiences.

Good luck with the job search and your upcoming 341.
