My first roller coaster was the Corkscrew. :P But really I have three favorites: Wicked Twister (if you ride it, sit in the VERY BACK, it is too awesome), Millennium Force, and Maverick. I rode Top Thrill for the first time last year and it scared me sooooo bad. I shook waiting in line. Then I got on and we got a ROLL BACK. I was FURIOUS!!! lol And then I shook when I got off and all the way back to our hotel room. But I'm glad I did it and I promised the future hubby I'd ride it again this year.

We went three times last year (back when we still had money). We went for Memorial Day, my B-day in Sept. and my Fiance's in October.

I have to say that Halloweekends are THE BEST time to go. I'm really glad my honeymoon is in October!
My first coaster was Jumbo Jets & Blue Streak...this is of course going back 40 years ago when it only cost about $6 to get in. In those days it took 6 guys to manually stop/brake the Blue Streak.

A roll back would scare me so bad. I have only went on that twice & everytime all I can remember is my mouth being a foot wide and not being able to breath for a minute. I have never stayed right on the property before either and usually go to the Howard Johnsons with hot tubs, Breakers Express, Motel 6, Holiday Inn...and there are some good ones if you go East right on Lake Erie.

Wicked Twister is one of my favorites too...then I like the Giant Wheel for a grand view....then I could spend an hour on Thunder Canyon, that is so relaxing and fun.
I have always gone the week before or the week after Labor Day & that is a good time. The hotel rates go way down then.

Maverick about 2 hours, Millenium about 1.5 hours, Dragster about 1.5 hours, Wicked Twister about .5 hours. So really not to bad, considering I've stood in line for the Millenium for 3.5 hours before.

Anyone see the new coaster King's Island has started? It looks like it's going to be pretty fun...nothing as big or fast as Cedar Point, but great for Kings Island!

Hey lillaimof2kids, The week before I go and as old as I am, I still get those crazy butterflies in my tummy & then that sad feeling when we leave. I have walked along that side of the beach many times and gone through the Hotel Breakers. Like you, I have never been able to afford it. The people I am going with are all chipping in together so it will not cost too much this time.

I think 1-2 hours was a long wait. Since I go the week before Labor Day or just after, I don't recall waiting for more than 30 minutes even for the biggest thrill coaster like Millenium. Usually like 10 or 15 minutes or just walk up & get on almost everything at the end of August. I think all the kids are back in school then & that is why.

I only went to Kings Island once, back when Beast was being built...and I wanted to go back to Cedar Point instead.
Are you old enough to recall when they had the Safari Jungle where they had the zoo animals? & back when they had the Dolphins?

This is going to be a real treat to roll out of bed and walk right in. I go every other year, to give a little down time on the new coaster, so the wait wont be as long. Absolutley my favorite midwest vacation spot during the summer!...I know you enjoyed yourself too I am glad you got to go for your celebration...and enjoy the rest of your day here at Cedar Point...Americas Roller Coast....Oncoming riders... (I know the speech like the back of my hand)

If you are ever arund Ohio/Lake Erie someday you will have to plan a day there. Even if Coasters are not your thing it is the most beautiful family resort in all of the midwest, mostly due to the location.

The longest wait I've ever had for a ride is 1.5 for Maverick opening weekend. It went by fast and it was well worth it.

The biggest advantage to staying at the hotel is the Early Entry. We stayed at the hotel last summer so we got to ride all the good stuff first and then went to the other older rides.

I remember riding Millennium Force, getting off, and RUNNING To the back of the line again since it was open entry time and the lines were all so short! Did the same thing with Maverick too. *Sigh* I CANNOT wait to go back.

Wow!!! I can't believe no one stands in long lines but me! I keep hearing stories about this, but I never get to experience it myself. I usually go to CP several times each summer. This past visit was my 2nd time this year. (My mom bought me 4 tickets for my Bday and DH bought me 4 tickets also! LOL)

A few weeks ago when DH and I took the kids to CP, we were in line for the Maverick, under the building structure. A huge rain came rolling in, then it starting hailing. All those people standing in line were getting beat up with 1/2" hail balls. It was horrible!!

Bandit - Kings Island doesn't have 3/4 of what CP has! We go there cuz it's only 1.5 hours away, we don't need to stay over night. I'm 35, I don't remember there ever being a zoo at Kings Island.

All this talk about roller coasters makes me want to go back!! LOL
