    Hey edwards2....

In another thread you had mentioned that they questioned your sons school tuition. Then after you explained hte situation, they said it was ok. What did you tell them?? Will they accept the fact that you just refuse to send them to the public school and you want them schooled in a Christian environment?
My daughters tution is around $300 amonth. Think they will question it?

I need to know the answer to that question, because my daughter is in a Christian private school and I would hate for her to be forced into the public school system due to me filing bankruptcy. I am divorcing and the only way I can maintain a household for my daughter and myself is to file bankruptcy.

I will give you the Readers Digest condensed version...we were told by the U.S. Trustee that they allow $200 a month for private school tuition. We didnt know that until we had our faceoff with her. Our attorney did tell us from the onset that the tuition might send up a red flag for obvious reasons - paying the tuition but not continuing to pay our creditors. Anyway we were simply honest with the trustee. My husband had a self inflicted medical catastrophie. Obviously our son was frightened and devastated by his dads actions. We did enroll him in the public high school and he lasted one week. He complained about the school and was very upset about going. We talked with the counselor at the school and decided we needed to transfer him to another school. We had already planned on sending him to the school he currently attends but were going to wait for a year or so until we could afford it. Well now was the time. We talked with the counselors at the private school - we already knew a lot of faculty there and the admissions director. Some were personal friends of my family. My brothers and nephew graduated from the same school. Anyway we immediately applied for financial aid and were turned down - 2x. We borrowed the money and sent him anyway. He has thrived there and has been on the honor roll every 9 weeks. It is not the most expensive private school in town; in fact the trustee sent her own son there. Bottom line is I was honest with her and explained how devastating it would be to move him back and he had been through so much already. She was very sympathetic. I honestly dont know what we would have done had she told us she was disallowing the expense. I can tell you this with absolute certainty however, that I would eat peanut butter sandwiches everyday if that is what it would take to keep him in the school. It is as much about his emotional well being as it is about academics. Let me know if I can help further. My advice would be to be as honest as you can and hopefully he/she will understand. Good luck...let me know.

Thanks edwards2, Yea I am the same way. I will do without whatever I have to, to keep our daughter in her school. Her tution is around $300, so hopefully they will allow at least most of it. Thanks again!!

You are welcome...at least your monthly expense is only $100 more than allowed; ours was $475 more. Good luck..
