    Vacation and Bankruptcy

I mentioned this under another heading but it seemed to sidetrack to something else. In early to mid-July My wife and I went on Vacation (not VACATION so much as visiting my Grandmother who is has had some major surgeries lately and not doing well at all. We have a 14 month old son (her Great Grandson) that we believed this may be the only time she'll get to see him if she continues on like this. We also visited a couple other cities to see about possibly moving there in the near future. It wasn't a pleasure vacation so to speak.

Cut to the chase now - We are planning on filing here in the next week or two. We DID NOT charge ANYTHING on that vacation, it was all with cash and checking account. No debt was accrued on this vacation.

How will the Trustee take that into account? or does that depend totally on the particular trustee that looks at my case. We were able to go on the vacation because I get paid every 2 weeks... which as most people know means you get 3 paychecks in a month every 6 months or so... I used my 3rd paycheck that month.

Thank you for any feedback you can give.

If you paid cash for everything or just wrote checks the trustee will be "interested" only in big checks that are wrote against your checking account in the last 3-6 months.
If your not "asked" about the vacation - don't offer any info on it until asked, especially if it was all "cash" or little checks.
Most people do not list "vacation" as a expense because it does not involve a creditor.... or monthly expense...

Sorry, we didn't mean to "side-track" your questions!!!

    Hope that helps,

    Minny

Thanks Minny!!!! The only 2 real charges (not charges... but used Debit Card so it's on the checking account bank balance) that are kinda big are the Car Rental ($250) and 2 nights at a hotel ($115.00) that's it.

I appreciate the response!!! Thanks... (Just thinking about all this stuff is nerve racking)

I don't think they will question that on your bank statement.... Trustee is really looking for "big transfers" of money, or property, etc.

I wouldn't worry too much about it.....

Yes, filing BK is nerve-wrecking when you first start it, then you learn the ropes of it and you start calming down some.

Have you had a "free" consultation with your lawyer yet to see which chapter you qualify for? If not talk to 2 attorneys (free) and then choose.... see what both of them tell you...

Any more help needed, or just morale support, ask us!!

        Good Luck,

        Minny
