Do they ask you this at 341

Hi All, Does the trustee ask you at the 341 meeting, "how could you of charged up this much?" And if so, whats the right answer? Are they looking for you to explain the all those charges?

Our trustee didn't word it like that. The only thing he asked was about one card that had the highest balance. I think he wanted to know if we used it to buy a luxury item. We just told him we used it for living expenses and that was the end of the conversation. But we were never point blank asked how we got into debt.

I've never heard of a Trustee asking that....I guess it's possible....

I think they are looking for assets when they ask.... they asked the same person before me what they spent 100k on.

Yes, some trustees will ask how you got into debt.

But you don't have to give a detailed answer, vague general answers will do.

yep, that's what happened in our case. We told them it was 10 years worth of debt, livings off ccs to pay for basic needs: medical bills, groceries, rent, etc. If they ask they as trying to see if you spent on luxury items or vacations, stuff like that.

They can verify that by looking at your cc statements anyway I suppose.

She didn't ask us. We were prepared to say kids school events, normal living, groceries. Etc

We were asked about a specific debt ($51k from BOA) and where the money went. We told him we had used it to consolidate other debt, and he seemed fine with that answer

It's probably a bigger issue on "when it was charged" as opposed to "how could you have charged this much"
