    Credit cards still open?

I just checked one of my credit cards I included in my 7 and for the first time since filing I was allowed computer access.

It said my balance was 0 and my available credit was 6,000. It was 5,000 before filing. I assumed all my cards would be cancelled by credit companies. Is this just a fluke? I DON"T want any credit cards, been there done that.

I checked Home Depot and that was still no account access. Do I need to close all my accounts? I was SO taken aback by that access. What's the deal with the cards, automatically closed or I need to make the calls?

I'm not discharged yet but I last day for objections was 8/18 and I had none. Just waiting to be discharged now.

    Edited to add:
Now that I look I see it is a Chase card but my old Circuit City card that is still active that I have not used since 2006 and it was paid off then and not included in bankruptcy.

Sounds like that card might be trying to suck you back in. All of ours were automatically closed and/or charged off. But if you would feel better about it go ahead and close them.

I checked under fico score and it says closed by creditor. When I called the 1-800 number it said to hold and that the call may be monitiored so I hung up lol. (not ready to talk to them again)

I'll try to close it online.

Might just be a timing issue. Once you file on any credit card, paperwork goes from one dept. to another. The place which was notified of your filing, and the actual dept. that updates your account might even be in the same building, different floor. THey'll get it together one of these days, weeks, months.
Just assume that it is actually closed.

YOu can always do what I did when I filed...Cut up your credit cards and mail them back to the companies. I didn't even want to be in posession of their property anymore. If I never had to have a credit card for the rest of my life I would be happy.

The only credit cards I have still open were the ones with zero balance. The rest are IIBK, with zero balance.

I hope you get your discharge soon.

My lawyer made us list all credit card even the ones with zero balance. I hope they don't close those, but can find out yet. Too soon.

I'm pretty sure they are all closed. I called on the CC one and I had closed it in 2006 after I paid it off. I'll ck my credit report in a few months and if any are open I'll close them.

Why did you have to list cards that had zero balance?

My attorney told me to list cards that had a balance only.
