    Recorded Deed and Mortgage

    Hi all,

My Attorney wants these 2 documents from me. I printed out my latest mortgage statements but not sure where to find my Deed. I have the original purchase contract but not sure where the Deed is found. I refinanced a year and a half ago, should I also print out that as well from my current mortgage company?

Also, she wants my life insurance that I can't withdraw from. Do I need to send this in as well as my 401K that I just started investing in on July 1st, 08. The 401k is an automatic deduction, 5% of my net pay?

Man, talk about a ton of paperwork

Your Deed should be recorded at your County. It may be viewable online and printable too. To get a "Certified" copy you will pay money. Go to your County website and look up Public Records then put your last name then first and you will find it. 'Hub
If I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.

You should have gotten your deed a few weeks after your refi closing. After it is recorded, they send it to you. Call your title company or attorney that you used for settlement.

This is assuming you live in a lien theory state. Where do you live?

        Hi,

I live in Wa state. Tried looking on my mortgage company's web site but all they have listed is the HUD.

LOL, Thanks for starting this thread. I have to jump on your band wagon. I was just looking at the same list of documents I need this weekend. I was also looking for a thread here that talked about these documents.

I looked in my original paperwork I signed when purchased my home. I found my house's warranty deed with info from the title insurance Co. I assume this is the correct documentation. I had no idea I even needed this.

Along the same line of questioning the attorney I had my first consultation with said I needed the title from both of my vehicles ( can you get this at the DMV). I thought you didn't receive a title until after you the pay the vehicle off.. which I haven't but plan to reaffirm. I probably should know this but don't. Any help? They also say insurance policy; is that for life, auto and home insurance?

Any help or links to where this is discussed would be helpful.

          Thanks

ok I found my Deed of trust. Do I just send in my latest one from my last refi or the original when I 1st bought the home?

Thanks for all your help, really appreciate !!!

EDIT: I have 5 different Deeds showing for the same property. Looks like one is for the original purchase and 2 are for my 2 Refinances. BTW I can print it as a PDF file

Mi you might be able to look on your state's Dept. of Motor Vehicles site and get the info or at least find the info to get it. Usually the title would be in your name but with a lienholder if you haven't paid for it.

Good that you found it Gabriel

Can anyone tell me if I just use my latest DEED from my last refi? Is that suffice or do I need to include all of them? My printer is almost out of ink already ....sheesh

The latest deed is most important I would think but I don't know for sure , email the lawyer and ask

I understand all too well about the ink. I think either the original deed or the latest from the re-fi would do--if the legal secription of the property is the same. That is basically what they are looking for.

                    Good luck!

Thanks a ton Angelina. The legal description hasn't changed except the different mortgage company's that the mortgage was sold to which doesn't show on the DEED anyways, so I just printed out my latest Refi DEED....AND .... I still have enough Ink left (I think) to print out 6 mo statements from an inactive bank account I haven't used for for over 3 yrs. My balance is only $4.96 so I'm not too worried about that account.

So my final payment to my attorney and all my paperwork goes in the mail tomorrow !!!!

Thanks JR.. I was thinking along the same lines.. What a pain in the butt. I only owe 3k on one and a little over 4k on the other. I just hope it does not delay getting my paperwork too long. Of course, this comes from the first Atty and not the one I will retain this week. I am just trying to get ahead of the game.

My Attorney wanted all 3, Home, Auto and Life and any 401k or retirement documents. Not too worried about the 401k, I just started investing in it 2 months ago.

Legal Helpers is very thorough about the documents they need before they file. Guess that is a good thing.
