    Filed and Rental question

    Hi Guys,
After I met my lawyer last week and thought he would file mid-week (sorry, a little miffed cause Pacer finally said this weekend! long weekend..) I took off to look for another location and find a home (surrendeing current).

When does the BK hit for rentals? Like how do landlords check? Background checks on Internet or Pacer?

During your filing? Stay? Or is it better to just put it on your app right away?
    Thanks

If you are dealing with Management companies, they find out like most other entities, via your credit report.

BK does not disqualify you from renting, if the management companies did that, they would lose 15% of their business.

      Oh good!! Thanks
For some reason, I have read so much lately, I thought I heard rumors.

BTW, when does it hit your creidt report generally?

        14-30 days (sometimes sooner).

It was on all 3 of ours in 3 days. At least 1 and possibly 2 of them had it the next day.

An appartment complex told me that they wouldn't rent until the BK was discharged.

              Wow, that fast.... OK.
And what do you do for 60 days when that happens?
I am worried about housing my family, we are a big group with kids and dogs. It is the reason I want to rent very soon. Sorry... just worried
If it is against the law, I know some would just work around it by other reasons. And flip side, maybe someone else won't care......?

It is not against the law, per se, for them to rent to you while the BK is open.
