My husband and I are thinking about filing BK. Our income qualifies us for the chapter 7 but we each have a car and I owe less than my car is worth. Does this mean that I cannot file a 7? Thanks!

You have a car exemption with C7 and maybe a wildcard you can apply it to. Depending on your state, is how much you can keep. What state are you in? Maybe someone can help if they know that.Filed C7 Aug 31 2008

Make sure both of your names are on the tittle. If not then you might lose out on some exemptions like us. We will have to buy back $3,000 worth of vehicle equity in order to keep our only car.Comment
