    House Payment-Automatic Draft

I am going to stop my automatic drafting of my house payment and stop paying it beginning Oct 1st. When I do this, is there any chance they will still take the money out after it becomes apparant I am not going to make my October payment?
They of course will still have my account #'s.
Should I play it safe and just switch banks?
    Thank you

It can take awhile to stop those sort of things. Is there any chance you can try just closing the account in addition to stopping the auto payments?

Take it from someone who has gone through this - CLOSE that account down, and open up a new account. My mortgage co took out money TWO months in a row, even after we stopped the automatic withdrawals through them. We even had the receipt. The first month, the incompetent teller put in the full $ amount, and left out the .50 on our request for a stop payment on the account. Because the amount did not match to the cent (even though it was THEIR teller that made the mistake), they pulled the money. They refused to return the money. We were out $1775 for that month. The following month, the request should've gone through, but they STILL pulled out the money. We had to go through the hassle of calling them and threatening to sue them (because we had the receipt). They did issue us a check right away, but it was a hassle to get it back. The kicker was that after they issued us the check, they made a mistake and also electronically refunded the amount to our account, so we got our money back from the previous month as well : ) . We pulled out all the money and closed out that account right away, just incase they tried to reverse the mistake and take that money back! We haven't heard from them since.

Just a note - each time they pulled the money out, we were way in the negative! We couldn't understand why our bank would allow an automatic withdrawal of $1775, when we didn't have any money in our account!

We had to close our bank acct. Bank ignored request saying we never requested and bank acct was getting negative. In my case, the mortgage and the checking acct was with the same bank but I still recomend you close that acct.

Just close the account at your current bank AND go with a completely different bank. Do NOT open another account with the same bank. Somewhere along the line your bank's data base will match your name with the old/closed account # and then hit your new account #.

I'll play it safe and close it. Thanks for the advice.
