    Whats new

Ok, I am filing on Monday or Tuesday and not sure what will happen next. They attorney just said that they will file electronically. We signed some papers today, but I didn't see the pages with the credit cards listed on it. All he did was have us sign here and there. Whats the next step. Once she files it over the computer, then what? Will i get stuff in the mail or what?

I screwed up on the header/title of this. I meant to say WHATS NEXT. So no need to anwer back with "nothing new here how about you? LOL...

You are on your way. Don't worry. Get onto PACER and check your status. You signed that what she sent electronically is your approved signature. That is all. Worry less, you are on your way to a new start. 'Hub

Did you read what you were signing? Was it the complete petition or just a few pages?

I didn't sign anything to all my paperwork was done, which included the matrix of my creditors.

I didn't see the matrix i just signed a few papers. He ad a bunch of papers and then there were sticky notes on pages to sign. I was stupid I guess i should of asked to look at everything. He said they would file them tomorrow meaning today, but thats a sunday. I called his office and told them that before they it the send button to call me. I will call again tomorrow morning. I just want to make sure that all the creditors are on there. Do they go by your SS number and just discharge the debt like that or do every creditors that you want discharged have to be on the matrix?

One more question- Is it the amount that they put on the matrix is whats discharge? or is it the whole amount thats under that account number? Cause my account balances went up since then cause of lee fees and over the limit fees. He had my statements dated Aug. So is it the amount that is put on the matrix or the current amount due now?

He did say at the end that it was like 150K in CC's and I said no its more like 185-190K in CC's and he saud yeah i guess i haven't looked at it. His paralegals do all that stuff. Should I have gotten a copy before I left of that? I feel like such a stupid ass....

              You'll be fine

They realize that generally companies tack on more late fees and over limit fees between seeking an attorney and filing, that's normal. So long as the company is listed (whether or not the account # is present) and a general idea of how much you owed the debt will be discharged if your petition is successful.

Your case would not be on PACER until generally the evening the day the lawyer files it electronically . PACER is only updated 1/day. So just be patient a day or two more

I hope others that haven't filed have read this and really understand that you should NEVER sign anything that hasn't been read or completed beforehand.

Your paralegal can have the missing accounts added. I was missing 3 accounts when I went to sign paperwork, and it was fixed that day.

If you are no asset you shouldn't have to worry as much as you are. If you don't have anything to take, then the companies can't get anything from you.

I have my appointment on Friday with my attorney and we will begin the process. I assume it will take longer than the 1 hour on Friday morning. Not to be a pain in the b utt but I would like to review the prepared petition, right? Is that normal?

Hi Hallow, We went to our appt and spent 2 hours going over the petition form by form with our lawyer. This was on our appt. to file, not consult for filing.

It is normal and I would want it! Is this a consult or filing?

Your a very good example of why a filer needs to examine closely those papers before being sent to the court. We had a few mistakes on ours such as wrong account numbers. 2 deleted creditors. Names spelled incorrectly. I was so glad I caught them. The paralegal said she fixed everything and that still wasnt good enough for me. I went in and double checked the Matrix a second time (only took 3 minutes as I knew exactly what I was looking for)
She still had not added the 2 creditors!

From here on out though you can make sure you let every new member who is getting ready to file know what has happened and how important checking those schedules before they are filed is.

We had the consult about 6 weeks ago but we needed to gather some information for the attorney, title of vehicles, recorded mtg info, pay stubs for 6 months etc. Friday morning we are meeting him to fill out the paperwork. I hope I get sometime to review the paperwork for correctness and I hope they don't file the pet. right away on Friday????
