They called my husband at work last night and told him he couldn't file BK on a federal bank. Uh huh. DH disputed that, and the guy said he'd stolen $4,000 from the government. This was for a overdraft/line-of-credit account. My husband told him to take it to court if he wanted to, and the guy said, "Have a nice life paying off this debt. You'll never get rid of us." Then he hung up on my husband. LOL.
We know the types of dischargeable and non-dischargeable debt. Guess which one old bank accounts fall into? Duh!
Sorry, I just had to share my amusement. The sad thing is, I'm sure this tactic works on some people. They use fear and intimidation, even when someone is protected by the automatic stay. It's disgusting.
