    Hi New here

Hi everyone. I am Lisa. I am getting ready to file a chapter 7 and I am full of questions and a nervous wreck.

I have abou 64 thousand in just credit card debt. I have no medical bills or even car loans. Its just all nasty cc's.

I have a question. I was looking thru the forums and came across something about balance transfers. I have a huntington card that I had just transfered around 9000.00 to before we realized we cannot continue to live the way we were living. The debt had been on a sams discover card at a high interest so we found this card with 0 percent for 1 year. I had NO intentions on filing before we did this.
I had paid on the card 1 month before we decided to file. My last use of the card was July 14. My attorney said they look back 90 days so I should be fine. We plan on hopefully filling in october sometime.
I am scared to death now that I wont get a discharge because of this. I am a nervous wreck.
Can someone tell me what is the worst that can happen if anything at all?

Thank you and i hope to get to know everyone here!

    1. Worst case scenario, you won't get a discharge on THIS particular debt. A balance transfer issue is only between you and the creditor, the issue does not otherwise effect your bankruptcy.

Given the amount involved and the fact that you have made only one payment, you should probably consider waiting 6 months before filing.

thank you for your quick answer! I am going to ask my lawyer about the 6 month thing but the thing is I have already stopped paying and am over limit on this card. Do I have to start paying them again for six months or just let the account sit?
      thank you!!

No. You need to not touch that account and save any money you might pay on it for hiring your attorney.

Good luck and welcome to the Forum.
