Holy Far Off 341 Batman!

I've been meaning to post this but I forgot!

I have a good friend at work who is a year younger than I am and has a daughter. His fiance does not work. Together, they are around $80k in debt.

I referred him to my lawyer, and they decided to go with him. They found out that even if they pay and file in December, because Michigan is so backed up he wouldn't have his 341 until....

APRIL!

THANK GOD I didn't have to wait that long. I would have had a heartattack!!!!

I can't imagine why it's backed up so many months. Yes I understand that Michigan is in big trouble due to the auto industry turmoil but even with the record setting old law, last minute filers a few years ago there wasn't that much of a delay.

i first met with my lawyer august 19 and paid in full. It was two weeks before the paperwork was finished and he wasn't available for me to sign the papers till Sept 9th. My 341 is scheduled for Oct 27th.

i thought that was bad but i couldn't imagine having to wait till april. Oct 27th still seems like it's taking forever to get here.

Thanks BROKEN.. This would be yet another one of those road bumps in my life that I deal with. Stuff like this happens to me all the time. No matter how much planning I do.. My wife thought I was crazy when I told her things like this happen to me.. Now when it happens to me/us we just look at each other and laugh.. Kind of like the BK Curse.. when my hot water heater blew trying to save for our atty. LOL...

I would wager that many BK courts are going to be backlogged for awhile.

I am so thankful I filed when I did and it didn't take long to be over.

I called my attorney and they expect when I file in the next couple of weeks that my 341 will most likely occur by the end of December. They said they are seeing a 6 week backlog for our district.

In spite of all the difficulties we've had with our case, I still am glad we filed when we did. I think we're going to be seeing an upsurge in BKs in the coming months.

I agree, I also think the stigma of bankruptcy is starting to wear off. That and it will be easy for people just blame it on the economy for them having to file.
