This is just really hitting me hard today. We filed last week and I think the guilt is setting in in a HUGE way. I've walked around the house trying to figure out what the heck I spent all that money on. OMG I have some of the most stupid things laying around here. Did I really need a potpourri pot to make my house smell good or the fancy pillows on my bed to make it look pretty? I hope these feelings I am having are normal during the beginning stages of this process. I feel fortunate to have found this site so I can ramble and read what others have been though and find out what I have ahead of me in the coming months.

It's because you had a credit card with a high limit with them; if you had to pay cash when you shopped there, you would not have purchased those items. Whipping out the plastic is so easy and having all that stuff that you don't really need half the time is so marvelous! Simple as that.Originally posted by relief13035 View PostMan - it makes me sick. How in the heck did I spend over $9000 at Target??? What kind of freak shopper am I?

I added some more CC's to my official list to turn into the BK attorney and it's now over $250k. Still lots more to go. Tomorrow I will have to research all of the old debt and contact old creditors to get full account #'s and updated addresses to where the BK court can send the notices.

I wonder if CEO's of the credit card companies ever surf this site and see how we are all communicating with each other.

It's strange to put it all out here in public, but at the same time relieved.
We are keeping our primary residence and the HELOC. $1315 + $420/mo.
Keeping a 2nd residence because my mother-in-law lives in it and she is low-income and makes the low mortgage payment. $481/mo (no out of pocket money for us)
Keeping both cars (not sure why yet). Mercedes @ $330/mo & '06 Titan @ $420/mo
But here it goes:
CitiMortgage - surrendering 3rd investment property $93,898
Flagstar Mortgage - surrendering 4th investment property $104,450
Capital One - $3,888
Capital One - $1,789
Bank of America - $5,462
Bank of America - $10,152
American Express Gold - $3,814
American Express Blue - $2,373
Chase - $1,575
Target - $5,352
Target - $4,383
CitiBank - $9,392
Lowes - $4,142
Household - $895
Washington Mutual - $402
Lane Bryant - $407
Home Depot - $380
Kohls - $259
Total = $252,311
Oh this is brutal.

Yes, some very large scissorsOriginally posted by AngelinaCatHub View PostTreadingwater, you need a scissors party. Drop those cards and after bk, cash is King.
Note my signature emblem? That is what got me here also. 'Hub
It feels good to divvy up the cash at payday and put it in labeled envelopes and not feel like I owe anyone.

That won't work because too many people are drones and will keep buying and they don't know about the pyramid scheme.Originally posted by Overmylimit View PostIf we don't like the CEO making millions just don't be a Patron of their business. This is the quickest way to give them a pay decrease!
People don't need handouts... but instead of a CEO making $500 million per year, he should make maybe $20 to $100 million per year while the balance should be evenly dispersed to all of the employees each year.
It would be a nice if there was a law that made this happen. Spread the wealth. Nobody should be treated special just because they are the CEO. He's not necessarily putting in any more hours than an employee.

Flamingo is right, I am down now but I will be back in the chips at some point for two reasons; because I have done it before and I know I can do it again. This time however I will play by the cash is king rules....
That being said I do agree they make too much but the bottom line is that we as the public don't have to deal with them, it's really our choice to pad their pockets. If we don't like the CEO making millions just don't be a Patron of their business. This is the quickest way to give them a pay decrease!

It's business - businesses are out to make money for the owners and shareholders if a corporation. Guess who makes the money for those folks - the workers. The less they can pay the workers, the more money for the top brass and shareholders. you keep stating things are so "unfair." The only way to make things more "fair" for yourself is to change your lifestyle, get high degrees and get out there and work hard. No one hands you anything in today's world and sitting and whining gets you no where. No one will ring your doorbell and hand you a $100,000 because you feel sorry for yourself. That's just the way it is - it's reality.Originally posted by debtmonster View PostI know. You are right. It has been tried and has not worked in other countries from what I have been told.
I just don't think it's right for a CEO to make $500 million while all of his employees barely make $30-50k. That is just so unfair. I couldn't sleep at night if I were that CEO. People at the top should be forced to share the wealth with the hard working people. Instead, they are all treated as legal pyramid schemes.
