Do you think Dell will take my computer away if I include it in the bankruptcy?

I think that the way Dell works is that they issue you a credit line and you make the purchase. Do it's still unsecured debt. The computer should be exempt and you be able to keep it, however it depends on how long ago you purchased it, if they pull the fraud card.Disclaimer: Young, NOT Dumb.(._.) The plan: $480 monthly for 60 months at 100%. 07/12/08

We bought a computer through Best Buy a few years ago. When we filed in June, the lender (HSBC) asked us to reaffirm the remaining amount. We just laughed...the computer is worth maybe a couple of hundred at best. We were just discharged and so far no word yet. I agree that if it were a recent purchase, perhaps, but it seems unlikely otherwise.Filed BK (Ch. 7) 6/2/08

My lawyer said we'd list it as unsecured and then deal with it if they complained. My DELL was 3 years old when we filed, they have sent no communication since then except the sales emails for new computers I still get.May 31st, 2007: Petition Filed by my lawyer

We listed Dell as unsecured as well. Our state bk laws (and fed bk laws) allow a filer to avoid the lien on a computer (also one TV, one stereo, one VCR and also household goods like furniture and kitchen appliances) so its no wonder these "secured" creditors rarely try to get their stuff back. The future is unwritten.
