So I read the sticky about Pacer, but I am not understanding the purpose of it. I am thinking my lawyer will let me know if there is a problem with my bankruptcy, right? I read some of you used it to check when your bankruptcy was discharged, but I can't see paying for this? I (obviously) don't have any credit cards, and read that someone used it once, and had to pay $11? Just wondering what the real benefit is, I just would rather not spend the money for it.

Dear ‘Dopey’”:
PACER is the Federal Data Base for many things. It truly is worth while. You must sign up for it and it will tell you days before mail what will come. It is your case history that has been scanned into evidence. It is usually in pdf form so you must have Acrobat Reader installed. This is free. To look at each page, it costs you .08 cents, then you can save the pdf file to your hard drive to look back upon. If you have no card, I believe you can be billed, but if you are close to your Federal Courthouse, go in and sign up.
It truly is a good tool if you do not go extreme and make sure you save once every copy as eight cents a page adds up.
Google PACER and learn about it. It has been good for us. ‘HubIf I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.
