    DM,

Please allow me to introduce you to the concept that life isn't fair. Ok? It's just a fact. You seem to think that you somehow have it harder than everyone else. Guess what~ YOU DON'T. Period. Every single thread that you contribute to simply must include your philosophy on how everyone else should live. Well, let me tell YOU how I live:

Needed a new car. Credit Union approved me for $25k, I spent $10k.
Wanted to buy a house. Mortgage company approved me for $150K. I spent $85,500.
TV went out. Bought a small one at Wal-Mart.
Buy all my furniture on Craig's list.
Go to work @ day job at 3:30 am, and work nights waiting tables to help my oldest son pay for college.
I have 5 credit cards with a total debt load of $74.00.

The ONLY reason I am posting this as a thinly veiled plea for you to STOP WHINING. Stop spending your time wishing everyone had it as hard as you do. Stop spending your time assigning blame for your situation. You are presummably a grown man, so please suck it up, file for BK, learn for YOUR mistakes, and get on with it.

All of these expenses that people have, I do not remember having as a child.
That's because you were a child, how would you have known? You weren't the one working and paying the bills. Besides, $100 40 years ago is at least $400 in today's money. Newsflash: the world is different now than it was 40 years ago. Society changes, people change, and get this: INFLATION happens.

We have 2 children and have to pay more than 400/month just for their health insurance. Stop your whining and stfu. You don't have any idea what you're talking about. The fact that you think anyone would take financial advise from you is laughable.

My father could not afford health insurance back then. I remember my mom just writing a check when I went to the doctor.

Things aren't much different than they were. Only stupid laws have been made since then.

You people are all just a bunch of worry warts.

Basic rules of finance... you can't spend what you don't have. My mom didn't work and my father barely made $400/wk. I remember buying clothes every few months and it was not that much. Shirts were $10 back then and are still now.

The things that have changed the most in price are food and cars. Health insurance is a luxury I have done without for most of my entire life.

Just chill out and take my advice to heart. Go with it! Be frugal like my family was. We're all cheap!

                Good day.

...and now you are filing bankruptcy in part due to unpaid medical bills from not being insured. Plus you claim you are unable to do most jobs because of your poor health. Perhaps you should have had insurance after all.

It's ironic that you have over $300k in unpaid debts yet you claim others spend what they don't have.

Yeah, you've got it all figured out. No job, no car, and living in a cramped bedroom in your inlaws' house. You're livin' the dream, man.

I did have health insurance before. They wouldn't do anything to help.

I'm living the dream. Making cash, not having a job and will be living cheaper than you!
Who gets to sleep until 10 or 11 AM each morning and still get paid?
                    Answer: NOT YOU.

                      I can't believe what I am reading.
Get rid of unions??? Health insurance is a luxury??? Sleeping in until 10 or 11 AM???
Well my husband worked (1) job in his life and thank goodness it was UNION. After 30 years he was able to take early retirement at age 50, collects a good pension and has health insurance for life. That's what hard work gets you!
Sleeping until 10 or 11 AM just sounds downright lazy to me.
And living with my in-laws would be far from a dream to me - more like a nightmare.

Yeah, you're living cheaper than me and making about 1/10 the income.

Unions are nothing more than an organization that hurts and boycotts the entire company any time they don't get what they want. They are the reason why an American car is $25,000 instead of $15,000.

Last time I had a problem with the company I worked at, I don't remember getting everyone in the entire company to go out and quit work unless I got what I wanted. Why should anyone else get any better treatment?

Unions have destroyed this country. Companies are shelling out cash for bodies who are no longer there doing the work.

If you want retirement, PUT YOUR OWN MONEY AWAY and save it. Why should it be the responsibility of the company to pay for your living once you're no longer working there? That's a huge scam on society.

Those companies I worked at in the past aren't paying me anymore. Why should they pay others?

I am not alone in this. I've heard tons of people complain about unions. I can't stand them. Nothing more than organized boycotts on a company. That ends up hurting all of us with artificially high prices on the product. This all adds to inflation.

If lots of Americans can work at plants for $12/hr., why should some union worker make $35 doing the same thing?

Unions BOIL MY BLOOD. I can't wait for them all to go away.

And yes, HEALTH INSURANCE A LUXURY! I went for most of my life without it. Yes, I got a large hospital bill now... but let me tell you, if you would have added up $300+ per month for a lifetime of premiums, it would FAR EXCEED what any hospital bill would cost.

Say your health insurance is $350/mo. and you paid that for 50 years.

$350 x 12 x 50 = $210,000!!! Not including compound interest you could have been making on this money which would make this an easy multi-million.

You're better off PUTTING IT IN THE BANK! When you get hurt or sick, take the money out. The gov't should force all people to have self-insurance like this and not let companies profit on our misery.
