Deed in Lieu and Property Taxes

Our Chapter 7 was discharged in April 2008. We later signed a Deed in Lieu of foreclosure in October. However, we just recieved a letter from the bank asking us to pay the property taxes for 2007. Wouldn't that debt be paid when the house sells and not by us personally?

I will be contacting our attorney next week, but wondered if anyone here had any similar experiences, or some information they would like to contribute.

    Thank you.

You are responsible for any property taxes that accrue after the date you filed BK. To do a Deed in Lieu, property taxes must be current, if not, most banks will reject the deed in lieu and must proceed with foreclosure.
