Attorney Question?

When i went to my attorney and told her i wanted to file Chapter 7 she gave me a packet to fill out such as all creditors CC, All my assets that i own and so on.
Other than that first day she never calls or gives any advice on what to expect if i need to know something i have to call and wait about 3 days for her to call me back and im lucky if i can keep her on the phone 2-3 minutes and most of the time i know less after talking to her than i did before.

I gues what im asking is this Normal do any one else feel like the attorney dont really care ohter than gettin your cash and really dont care what the out come of your B/K is.

We got our packet on Friday. So haven't had any other contact with my attorney. Have you paid them anything? I'm thinking if you haven't they are in no hurry to help you. Ours said they need half down before they are condsidered our attorney. But did say to call if we had questions. Alot of the questions are confsuing, i really think they should go ove rthis or do these things with you.

Momof3b1g... thanks for responding. Yes i have paid the retaineer fees. i went to her in July she told me we could not file until First of November so the first monday in November i paid she filed on the Nov.8th and my 341 is Dec,8th.

I thought for sure after i had paid and she had filed we would meet and she would explain more details on the B/K. When i do have questions i call her so far she calls back usally 2-3 days later. But i cant figure out why they think some one off the street knows everything about a B/K in fact i didnt know nothing until i got in this and started reading these blogs.
I probally just choosed a bad attorney becuse i know i couldnt of handled this with out one.

Well, it would be odd for the attorney to call you out of the blue, so having your attorney call you out of the blue is an unrealistic expectation. As for returning calls, generally so long as the return call is within 48 hours, that is acceptable. After all, there is NO SUCH THING as an emergency in BK, except one, if you are trying to stop a foreclosure sale and you need to file before that, any thing else, and I mean, anything else can be dealt with in the normal course of time.

I have a similar attorney who will say "I will call you on Wednesday" but no calls on Wednesday, or Thursday or Friday for that matter. I already paid half the attorney fees and needed to do the means test to start pre-bk planning and she was kind of dragging her feet. She divides her time between two cities (an hr apart) for the law firm I am using. Finally, I went into the office one day and told the office manager that if my attorney is too busy such that her attention to other clients trumps any attention to me then I want to cancel my retainer, get a refund and move on. She subsequently scheduled time with the attorney the next day and so far all is now well. I don't plan on filing till about Feb next year.

Thing to realize is many of these attorneys are handling several cases at the same time and sometimes it's a delicate juggling act with the many clients. We all want that personal, immediate attention. Best way to reach my attorney is by email and she will try and respond within 24-48 hrs. During my initial consult with 4 attorneys, one said their office is too busy to answer phone calls, or emails (they get 400 a week) and so I must make an appt to get any questions answered. And at the appt time you may still have to wait an hour or so to see the lawyer. I walked out of there so fast.
