How do I report money borrowed from family?

I have been unemployed for about 6 months and have borrowed money from my parents to get by....utilities, food, car insurance, etc.

Do I need to report this in my Ch. 7 filings? I don't want to not list it then find out from the trustee that I messed up by not disclosing it.

Under normal circumstances you would have to list your parents as creditors - as you owe them money. Repaying them before you file but not other creditors would be considered preferential. Just list them anyway, go through the process, and once you are discharged pay them back.

I disagree slightly, Mag; Listing the parents and paying them first is insider preferential payment. I know, as I owe my god-daughter and now have to pay back the Trustee to the tune of 5K. I attempted to state she was not blood kin but he said does not matter, you consider her as such, which is true. Not AFTER the discharge, you may pay anyone even if the debt is discharged it is your right to do so, but not before. 'Hub
