    question about creditor balances

I just noticed a discrepancy between what the creditor balance is in statements sent to me and what is being reported to transunion. Quite a difference... the letter to me says I owe $2450 and transunion says $1709.

I'm sure this is in the nolo book but I can't find it. Do you need an exact amount for discharge or can you round up to cover a projected amount? OR does the whole account get discharged regardless of the amount I report?

    04/01/09 - new 341 scheduled
    6/02/09 - DISCHARGED!!!

Balance amounts don't really matter when you file. It's the names of the creditors and account numbers.
The reason for the $ difference on your statement vs. info. on credit reports is timing - the difference between the date the statement is generated vs. the date that they report to the CRAs.

      Balances don't matter.

In fact, looking through a couple Pacer documents for our area (Pacer is AWESOME!) uncovered that many filers owed $1 to several of their creditors. I'm thinking this is because they knew they had a bill, but did not have an accurate balance.
