    Cleaning Up Credit Reports

    Morning All:

Just discharged 12/08/2008, and would like to know from those that are discharged when they started to clean up reports.

    Thanks

I can't speak from personal experience, but I'd give it a month or two to let the credit report settle out and everything get reported accurately, then get to work on making sure everything is reporting correctly. As to new credit cards, loans, that sort of thing, I'd wait a good 6 months or so before you even go looking or you will likely get the BK special (30%+ interest rates, membership fees, credit cards with high deposits, that sort of thing).

I've seen it time and time again on this board; time heals in regards to your credit score. Get your finances straight, start saving up an emergency fund (2-3 months living expenses) and live without the credit for a year, you'd be surprised how easy it is to get along without credit cards.
