    getting a cc before discharge?

I am so stupid! I was in a dept store and the lady kept trying to get me to apply for their store card, she was in the fitting room with me while I was trying on a bra and asked me why I didn't want to apply!! I finally told her I filed ch 7 and she said she knew people who said the same thing and still got credit and that even if I didn't get approved I would still get a bunch of discounts off my purchase so I applied and got approved for $100. I charged 50 and paid it off when I got my first bill. I am freaking out because I haven't gotten my discharge yet and wondering if it can get denied because of this bonehead move! I filed in July, went to court in Sept, and my lawyer sent our credit counseling certificates to the bankruptcy court Nov 21. How long do discharges take normally? I am so worried!

Why would you apply for credit when that is what got you into this trouble to begin with. I keep the kind of stuff offered to me to in the department stores, But i say no thanks and they say well you will have such and such amount. I continue to say no thanks.... You should too. If you had your meeting in sept, it should dischagre in 60 days, but that sometimes does not happen if there are flags on pacer or if the courts are backlogged. Do yourself a favor and check out pacer and see what is going on with your BK. Going forward, pay cash and refuse any credit card that is offered to you. Don't get anymore cards. Your not even discharged yet. Haven't you learned anything from filing......I don't mean to sound harsh, But hello. JUST SAY NO TO CREDIT CARDS.....

I understand, credit cards were never our problem, we didn't even have many it was thousands of dollars in medical bills when my husband had surgery then his job laid him off bc they said he was taking too long to recover and I was pregnant and in college and working as much as possible!! Like I said I was stupid, I was having a bad day and I was half naked in the dressing room and the girl just really pressured me. Yes stupid, won't happen again, but I need to know if there is some law that says that you can't legally do that before discharge, is anyone familiar with this, I'm in Ohio. Thanks

You need to sign up for Pacer go to http://pacer.psc.uscourts.gov/. You might not need your case number, I do not remember. You must just need your ss#. Just be carefult cause they charge you .08 per a page to look things up. But, I go on there every few days to see if there are any flags or obejction or whatever. It give you all the information on your case. Its pretty cool. Check it out. You will need a debit card to access it cause they charge you .08 and it is billed quarterly. If you are under 10.00 a quarter someone on here said that they do not bill you. So keep it until that.

As far as a law, I do not know if there is one. You should be ok, but NO MORE. LOL.....

I found it and it just says the status is "awaiting discharge". How do you know if there are flags or problems? Thanks for the info
