I am filing in Kansas because it is just where I am at currently. I lived in Oklahoma for 4 months before moving here and Texas before that for 20 years.
I have a house in Texas that I am letting go in bk-no equity
I have a mobile home and acerage it sits on in Oklahoma that I want to keep. I just put 15k down on it when I bought it in May and want to get that money back as it was all retirement money that I had cashed out. I have a buyer who wants to pay cash for it but I am afraid to sell it to them due to it showing as income and putting us above the means test
My question is -can I use a home in Oklahoma as my homestead exemption even though I am going by Texas exemption laws? And even though I do not live there currently?
If I sell it and put the 15k in an IRA would it show as income for the laast 6 months ?
