Okay, I think I just did something really stupid...

Oh my gosh, I think I did something really stupid this December.

I am scheduled to meet and file with our attorney this Monday 1/5/09 and hopefully file ch7....we had to wait 4mths to put some distance between our last cc's uses.

Anyhow, this December I borrowed $600 from my mom ( I was short, trouble with cash flow) and paid her back out of my next paycheck, the following 2 weeks.

Well, dumb me, I deposite the money into my checking (so my checks wouldn't bounce) and then wrote her a check 2 weeks later to pay her back.

Somebody please tell me I didn't just mess everything up!!

A little about us, we are above the median income but pass on the means test.....

I am totally panicking!!

You are probably okay. $600.00 seems to be the trigger for intrest by the trustee, looking for preferrential insider payments. But since it is such a small amount, it will probably squeak by. It would have been better to pay her back in two checks of $300.00 each, or even three checks at $200.00 each, spread out over time.

Ive been uber-paranoid about my bank statements since I retained my lawyer. I follow my lawyers advice to the "t". Its my luck I'd do something and mess up my whole case

$600.00 would be preferential payment plus the $600 maybe counted as income. The 600 is over 3 months. anything adding up to 600.00

I have been sooo cafeful,especially after I first met with my attorney a few months ago...I guess with the holidays and trying to give some type of Christmas to my kids I let my guard down.

Ohh, I hope not, we have only been paying half of our cc payments and the bill collectors have been ruthless. Plus I didn't make any payments this December....I don't know if I can take another 3 months of this...

you are a little over, and also can afford to pay money like that but not your cc's. if i were u, i wud wait another 2 months.. as long as your income stayed as it was from the time u check the means test, or went actually low you are in good shape. i usually dont go with what my client say, either i add more or lessen the amount of expenses to meet a good expenditures that will affect the income. am i making sense guys? because im really lost right now..
perhaps i shud have not post yet till im fine.

Philslyn, I dont want to be rude, but I have a question for you..do you do this for a living? It seems so, but yet you come here to ask questions because you dont know what your doing...this is what I'm taking from your posts. If I'm wrong I apologize. Also your not filing BK are you??? If I were you, I would just read and learn a few things from these kind folks, but I wouldnt give any opinions...just my 2 cents...
