Cleaning up credit report post discharge ?

Hi there...I am beginning the process of checking my reports for any issues, and have a couple of questions. If I see the following under the "negative" items on my report, i.e, the ones that were included in the bk: "Petition for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy/Past due 30 days" is that the same as when everyone says "IIB" or "included in bankruptcy" or do I need them to change the wording?

Also, this is odd--we had 2 vehicles that we kept, one I signed a reaff on, the other never sent one so I did nothing. I am continuing to pay both. On the one we did the re-aff on it is appearing as "included in bankruptcy" but also paid/never late...is that ok? Will the IIB part hurt it or will the paying part make that insignificant? The 2nd vehicle that we didn't sign the reaff on isn't even showing up in the negative section, it's just reporting as "paid/never late"...which is a good thing! Sorry--so many ?'s..

On the tradeline that is reporting included in bankruptcy (IIB) and also saying 30 days past due - unless the 30 days is prior to the filing, it should not say 30 days past due. It should say IIB and zero balance so yes, have them change the wording.
    Filed CH 7 9/30/2008
    Discharged Jan 5, 2009! Closed Jan 18, 2009

I am not an attorney. None of my advice is legal advice in any way..

Good luck proving this in order to have those numbers changed. I have disputed several cards who say 150 days late when they were in fact only 30 to 60 days on the date of filing. Each time I get a response saying that the information has been verified. Ugh....

Hi there..thanks for the replies. Actually, the only one that says the actual wording of "INCLUDED in bankruptcy" is the car we re-affirmed. It says paid/never late, but doesn't show any pymts going forward so I don't know if it ever will. The car we DIDN'T reaffirm but did file on, doesn't even show anything about the bk at all! Seems backwards. I just didn't know if the credit cards that now show zero balances, but still say "Petition for Chapter 7/past due 30 days" would affect the score negatively if they don't actually say "INCLUDED in bankruptcy"..does that make any sense?

They must all say IIB, show a zero balance and can not say past due 30 days unless the 30 day past due was in the history PRIOR to the filing date. There is a recent case, I will have to look it up, but it was against Equifax within the past 6 months or so. The court has stated just what the CRA's are suppose to report and you can get a violation out of the CRA ($$$) for reporting incorrectly.

However, you must notify the CRA. There is an entire proceedure to do this effectively in this link: www.creditinfocenter.com

Otherwise the CRA just says that the info is correct like one of the previous posters mentioned.

Startingover..thanks SO much for the info! I will check out that link in a moment, but for now I pulled out all the cc statements I'd kept from the month we filed, and not one single one of them was 30 days past due. I will get right on trying to have this cleaned up. I really, really appeciate the help, and congrats on your recent discharge, too
