When does the census bureau update the median income? Is is possible they would lower it due to job losses? Right now I am below the median but I need to wait to file. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

i saw somewhere it updates in Feb and Oct. Someone else had posted this question a few weeks back; and some thought that it would remain the same because of the poor economy. It would make sense to have it lower, accounting for so many job losses though.
You can also check on the census website, it should have the information there for sure.Filed Pro Se: 10/16/2009

here's a link for census:http://www.census.gov/hhes/www/incom...medfaminc.html
it doesn't look like its new info... i saw on the US DOJ or US Courts (don't remember which) that it was last updated in Sept, and would apply to filings as of Oct 1st.Filed Pro Se: 10/16/2009

I can't answer your question about *when* the median income is changed and how often, but I can tell you that it is possible for the median in your state to be lowered. I live in Michigan and the last time the median was adjusted, it went down. I am teetering on the edge of the median myself (I'm *just* under) so I've been watching it closely.
