    Surrendering car

My wife and I are considering filing for bankruptcy. We have an appointment to talk to an attorney tommorrow. Our plan is to surrender both vehicles. I have a car for work so I don't need one, but my wife will have to have a car to drive to work. If we stop making payments now, how long before they come get the car or we have to surrender with the filing. Or are we protected from them getting the cars until the 341 meeting? If we can keep at least one car until the meeting I should be able to save enough to by her a halfway decent car to drive.

I would guess it would be a few months after you stop making payments before there would be a chance of them repo'ing it. Once you file I dont think they can come and get it during the bankruptcy process.
